2025: A Year of Rebirth at The Barber Story
If you’ve visited The Barber Story since the beginning of the year, you’ve probably noticed we’ve been busy reshaping our space—installing new mirrors, hanging fresh lighting, rearranging the floor plan, and coating the walls with an entirely different vibe. At the moment, the walls are largely bare, giving the shop a more minimalist vibe than many of you are used to. Rest assured: this is only the beginning of a much bigger vision for 2025.
Embracing a New Aesthetic
I have wanted to depart from the classic “millennial grey” walls for a while now and evolve into a look that embodies who we are now: a reborn space that’s lively, welcoming, and creative. The green on the walls is a nod to the tattoo shop I spent hundreds of hours at in my early twenties, and the accent wall is in the process of become a rotating art gallery which will serve as a showcase for local talents. The challenge has been that the transformation can only happen in phases—late nights painting, early mornings rearranging—juggled alongside the day-to-day bustle of the holiday season. Now that we’re stepping into the new year, we finally have the bandwidth to refine those details and fully realize this new direction.
Why the Changes?
At its core, The Barber Story has always been about community. As the owner, I’ve consistently updated our décor every few months to keep things feeling fresh and reflective of the people who visit us. While most of the artwork was from my personal collection, I’ve come to believe the shop should be bigger than just my own expression. We have so many talented artists within our client base and throughout Boise, and the city rarely has enough available walls for them to be seen. That’s why I’ve started Endie Gallery, a separate project aimed at exhibiting local artistry inside the barbershop.
The goal is simple: encourage conversations between clients by introducing them to artwork that changes from one haircut to the next. At the same time, we can offer local artists a platform that instantly connects them to a community already appreciative of unique, high-quality craft. We’ll see our first exhibition in Summer 2025, but be on the lookout for a preview gallery in the coming weeks.
A Year of Opportunity
2025 is more than just a calendar change for us; it’s a symbol of rebirth and fresh perspectives. We want the shop’s look to reflect that feeling of hope and possibility—and to invite everyone in to experience it for themselves. Whether you’re excited to see the new gallery wall, craving a conversation about whatever sparks your fancy, or simply ready to enjoy a haircut in an updated setting, we welcome everyone with open arms. Of course, a new aesthetic and a renewed vision also mean new opportunities for the barbers who share in our mission. We’re proud to remain one of the few lease-only barbershops in Boise, providing maximum creative freedom and independence for our team, AND WE ARE CURRENTLY HIRING. As an added incentive, new barbers can enjoy one month of free lease to help them settle in and develop their clientele. If you’re passionate about the craft and eager to shape the next chapter of The Barber Story alongside us, we’d love to hear from you.
Join Us for the Journey
Every update—be it a new coat of paint, a fresh piece of art, or a newly hired barber—is about helping The Barber Story grow into a space that Boise can truly call its own. I continue to be humbled by those of you who have supported me since the beginning, and I can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.
Here’s to a year of rebirth, connection, and endless possibilities.
Be Well,
Chris
